STORY BRIEF –
The Black Phone (2022) follows 13-year-old Finney Blake, who is abducted by a sadistic serial killer called the Grabber and trapped in a soundproof basement. Inside the basement, Finney finds a disconnected black rotary phone that mysteriously rings, allowing him to communicate with the spirits of the Grabber’s previous victims. With their guidance, Finney learns how to navigate his prison and plot his escape. Meanwhile, his sister Gwen experiences psychic dreams that help the police track down the Grabber. Using courage and the advice from the ghostly calls, Finney ultimately fights back and defeats his captor, escaping to reunite with his family.
